Development Software of Ontology Gets Added to the Google Cloud
The development software corporate-based digital currency Ontology (ONT) has been added to the Google Cloud Platform Marketplace, as revealed by a Medium post from Ontology on February 23rd.
ont_dev_Platform, a newly supported software, is a set of tools to develop smart contracts on Ontology’s blockchain. The dApp product incorporates a block explorer, which is a smart contracted IDE (Integrated Development Environment), SmartX, and an Ontology test environment.
As indicated by the announcement, this addition aims to make the project “one of the first public blockchains to have a development platform on the leading cloud provider marketplaces.”
This statement refers to the fact that Ontology too is available on cloud marketplaces like Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services as of December 2018.
Launched by the Chinese company, OnChain, which is also behind the 17th largest digital currency by market cap NEO, Ontology is a public blockchain aiming to ease the use of emerging technology for companies. The whitepaper of the project articulates the platform as follows –
“Ontology is a blockchain/distributed ledger network which combines a distributed identity system, distributed data exchange, distributed data collaboration, [and others]. Together this builds the infrastructure for a peer-to-peer trust network which is cross-chain, cross-system, cross-industry, cross-application, and cross-device.”
By following a surge in price this weekend, Ontology briefly entered the ranks of the top 20 digital coins by their market capitalization today, before dropping to 21st place by the press time.

In November, news broke that the Japanese arm of computer giant, Microsoft, has partnered with a nascent blockchain startup LayerX aiming to accelerate the uptake of the technology through Microsoft’s Azure’s BaaS solution.
