London’s Crypto Cabbie Sells Bitcoins to His Passengers

By Kapil Gauhar

There’s a taxi driver in London who will not just give you a ride but will also ask you if you’d like to purchase Bitcoin. The pseudonymous cabdriver Dave Jenkins travels with a device which helps people in purchasing bitcoins. In his words, the hardware of the device is manufactured by a company called Fastbitcoins and allows the Crypto Cabbie to sell Bitcoins for cash before furnishing the buyer with a receipt. Basically, the service is a voucher system which can be redeemed for BTC after the purchase at specific locations.

Jenkins says that dealing with him is much easier for his customers than signing up for an exchange or using Bitcoin ATM. The Crypto Cabbie considers himself the first taxi driver to offer cryptocurrency purchases.

Jenkins explained in an interview –

“You know, you just turn up, get in the cab, hand the cash over, and you’ve got your bitcoin, and away you go.”

According to Danny Brewster, the creator of Fastbitcoins PoS terminal company, he sells the crypto-centric PoS devices to the retail stores as well as businesses worldwide. He is very confident of the developing his business amid the bearish market, believing that it makes his company even stronger. His good friend Jenkins has been accepting Bitcoin for taxi rides since 2017.

The Crypto Cabbie explained –

I only care about owning bitcoin itself — Bitcoin to bitcoin, Satoshi to Satoshi, whatever.

Jenkins noted that by hailing his cab in the digital world, individuals could contact his Twitter handle and offer him a pickup location. While being driven to their destination, passengers can buy BTC from him using Pounds, USD, and Euros. However, he only sells Bitcoin amid his regular shift hours. The crypto cabbie professes to make only a few cents’ worths of Bitcoin for his efforts but doesn’t sell to make money.
