Craig Wright Fails To Disclose His Bitcoin Holdings

As per a statement by  Devin Freedman of the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner made in a tweet on June 21, Bitcoin SV proponent Craig Wright, the defendant in a Bitcoin theft case, has failed to disclose his Bitcoin holdings.

As was reported earlier, Craig Wright had been ordered by a US court, to produce a list of his public Bitcoin address as of December 31, 2013. Freedman noted that as Wright had failed to comply with that directive, “he remains under an order to show cause why [Jude Florina] Reinhart shouldn’t issue sanctions” and order him to appear before Judge Beth Bloom in order “to explain why he shouldn’t be held in contempt.” His tweet read,

Craig Wright hasn’t complied with the court’s order to list his bitcoin as of 12/31/13. He remains under an order to show cause why J. Reinhart shouldn’t issue sanctions under R.37 & order him to appear before J. Bloom to explain why he shouldn’t be held in contempt. @KyleWRoche

This happens to be just the latest development in an ongoing court case against Wright who was recently accused of taking unlawful ownership of Bitcoin which was mined together with Wright’s late business partner, David Kleiman. The case was brought against Wright in February 2018 by Kleiman’s estate, who alleged that Wright stole Bitcoin worth over $5 billion after the death of Kleiman.

Reports claim that earlier this month, a Florida court gave a ruling which stated that Wright had committed perjury as his defence is contradictory to an affidavit he had previously submitted with an Australian court. As a result, along with several fines, he was facing up to five years in prison.
