Google’s Amir Sarhangi Hired By Ripple
Amir Sarhangi, Google’s tech leader in developing the Rich Communications System messaging apps, as per the Reuter’s report of 26th October being hired by Ripple. He had joined Google when his startup Jibe Mobile was acquired by Google in 2015.
During his stint at Google, Sarhangi had been the leading figure in the development of RCS an enhance messaging standard that may replace SMS. RCS has seen a wide acceptance from a number of Google’s partners, Samsung etc. However, Apple has refused to implement the technology.
Sarhangi will now join Ripple as their Vice President of Products and as the leader of RippleNet. RippleNet is Ripple’s blockchain based global payments network that allows financial institutions and other organisations to easily make cross-border payments. RippleNet is the basis for its three main products xCurrent, xVia, and xRapid.
RCS and Ripple more or less fall into different genres of projects, but it for time to tell if RCS technology will in anyway be used on RippleNet. Some of Ripple’s competitors have already made the use of RCS technology to make money transfers. Ripple has said that Sarhangi’s “experience will come in handy.” which is indicative of Ripple’s possible interest in RCS and mobile technology.
Ripple’s revenues have doubled in the third quarter over Q2 in 2018, and as per official data. The tech company that backs the third cryptocurrency by market cap- Ripple, (XRP) by selling 163.33 million USD worth of XRP tokens in Q3 stand at having sold a significant amount more than the 73.53 USD that they sold in the last quarter.
