EOS Tokens Worth Millions Stolen From Investors

All is not well in the EOS MainNet launch by Block.one.

Investors lost millions of dollars as the internal system of Block.one – the parent company of the EOS coin – was jeopardised by digital hackers recently and EOS and ETH tokens were compromised.

Anonymous online scammers had reportedly hacked into the system of Block.one, and scammers sent messages to the investors of EOS. The details of the investors were breached by the hackers and this information was used to steal EOS [EOS] and Ethereum [ETH] tokens from the investors.

The sale of EOS tokens had begun almost a year ago, raising about $4 Billion for the development of their new blockchain software. In a year Block.one has sold one more than one billion EOS tokens to various investors, but this loss means some of those tokens will never reach the investors who paid for them.

The Hackers made use of the email platform powered by the cloud software provider, Zendesk. Block.one has temporarily terminated their Zendesk system due to the obvious major scam.

The hackers sent emails to investors with a hyperlink that takes the user to a website with the domain name “https://xn--es-8bb.com” which web browsers’ punycode translate to eȯs.com, fooling users into believing it to be the original website, which is in fact eos.io. The phishing site then asks visitors to enter their private key to unlock their digital wallets to get the free tokens through the EOS airdrop.

Block.one has admitted over the weekend that an intruder had managed to breach its email support system.

Sofia, a Reddit user said that:

“I have lost around $45,000 worth of EOS tokens from my wallet, I hope the justice would be served.

Phishing attacks seem to continue on other fronts even though Block.one shut down its ZenDesk system and warned customers to be on a high alert lookout for scams.
