South Korean Crypto Exchange Police Help in Sexual Act Investigation
For the long-term, most of the South Korean middle school girls and boys found filming violent sexual acts and self-harm. Furthermore, the video was shared on Telegram chat rooms in exchange for payments made in the crypto industry.
The Korean police investigated this particular case and found many victims as the videos were all viral with the names and addresses of girls.
Over more than 5 million Koreans signed a petition to punish the man and take him to the court who made this happen and blackmailed girls on Telegram groups. Then officials revealed the identity of the accused. The name of the 24-year-old criminal is recognized by the name Cho Ju-bin.
Furthermore, the police revealed that over 10,000 people used the Telegram chat rooms where the video was posted, with some paying over $1,200 in crypto to gain access. The police had investigated that around 74 people, including 16 minor girls had been exploited.
The reporters of local media agency Kookmin IIbo revealed the numbers that over 25,000 users across 30 such Telegram chat rooms were in action to make a deal of crypto cash.
Others are expected from local media to claim that there were over 300,000 paying customers using the same chat rooms.
Accused Cho Ju-bin apologized with the statement that he feels bad about what he has done. He felt sorry for those who were hurt by him. Further, he thanked her for putting a brake on the life of a devil that could not be stopped.
Considering his crime, officials charged him with threats, coercion, abuse, and violating the sexual abuse act, the privacy act, and the child protection act.
Although the police are yet to confirm that about the reports made of a local crypto exchange recorded the crypto transaction and come up with some of the fee-paying members were famous professors, startup founders, company CEOs, artists, and sports celebrities.
Till the date of crime was detected, the police have found 124 individuals involved in this case. There are 17 others along with Cho who has been detained.
Sources from Korean newspapers reveal that Kookmin IIbo believes that each of the eight “nth room” share videos from three to four girls who had been blackmailed. The girls were the same who previously applied for modeling or escort jobs.
