Miami Dolphins Football Club Partners With Litecoin

The world of sports and crypto have come together a few times before and a new collaboration is clearly on its way. The Miami Dolphins, a football team from the United States, has recently announced that it will have Litecoin as its official cryptocurrency.

Basically, what this means is that customers can now make use of Litecoin tokens to buy official team merch and other items connected to the team.

The announcement detailed:

“Launching for the 2019 NFL season, the collaboration with the Miami Dolphins gives Litecoin the ability to tap into one of the NFL’s largest and most passionate fan bases through in-game branding and advertising opportunities at Hard Rock Stadium, as well as inclusion across the team’s various online properties and digital content.”

The Litecoin Foundation has entered into an official collaboration with the team to enable people coming for the Dolphins’ to use both Bitcoin and Litecoin to but tickets for the team’s 50/50 raffle. As a part of the raffle, half the proceeds of the money raised will be given to charities and towards other philanthropic ends.

The users can buy the tickets from multiple sources, including online, and kiosks, and other raffle ticket locations all around the stadium where the Dolphins play, which is the Hard Rock Stadium.

Charlie Lee, the founder of Litecoin, sounded rather enthusiastic about having teamed up with the football club and said:

“We’re thrilled to see Litecoin become the official cryptocurrency of the Miami Dolphins. This collaboration propels Litecoin in front of an audience of millions of people around the world at a time where adoption of cryptocurrencies continues to gain momentum and the ecosystem can support real world use cases in ways previously thought not possible. We see this as a powerful way to raise awareness and educate people about Litecoin and cryptocurrencies on a tremendous scale.”

Miami Dolphins vice president and chief information officer Kim Rometo also echoed his excitement, saying:

The Miami Dolphins are always looking for ways to enhance the fan experience, and this partnership with Litecoin provides the ability for guests to enjoy our 50/50 raffle while donating to a great cause.

Sports and crypto have always had close ties and this development just takes those ties a step further.
