The time of women is here and it is now. As a fellow woman in the tech world, which is traditionally considered a male dominated field, it is heart warming to see another woman being appointed to a position of great prestige and power.

The Global Blockchain Council has named Elizabeth Rossiello as one of its two co-chairs. Rossiello is the CEO and founder of BitPesa, which founded back in 2013, is an African company that aims to provide fiat remittances between the United Kingdom and Kenya. The company has since then, expanded its services to cater to other Afrcian countries.

Her appointment was confirmed at the annual meeting conducted by the World Economic Forum Annual, which recently took place in Davos. Elizabeth will have the opportunity to work with industry experts and fellow entrepreneurs from around the world.

The Global Blockchain Council, set up primarily with the aim of facilitating policy making around the world, aims to strengthen and drive the Fourth Industrial Revolution around the globe. The council especially emphasizes the field of cybersecurity, which has long been neglected.

Elizabeth will have her hands full at the council and she will be responsible for determining a new set of agendas for the council. The next meeting of the council will be held in San Francisco in May. The month of May is when Rosiello will officially begin her role as co-chair of the council.

Considering the question of Rossiello’s appointment, the head of blockchain at the World Economic Forum, Sheila Warren, has said that the primary reason behind choosing her is because of the amount of  technical expertise that she posseses as a regulator, and also because of her ability to make people work together in a scattered ecosystem such as the blockchain market.

Rossiello has promised to bring investors together, that will drive the growth of the industry at the WEF.
