Craig Wright Claims to have filled 666 Blockchain Patents

Craig Wright owned Nchain Holdings have been on a patenting spree recently, although the amount of patents related to blockchain has been on the rise, Nchain holdings have been in a league of its own. As per the recent findings, Craig Wright and his firm nchain have filed a total of 666 patents till date.

Craig Wright who is infamously referred to as “Faketoshi” for his continuous attempts to prove that he is the man behind the creation of Bitcoin. Although he has been debunked and proven to be otherwise. The desperate attempts to become Satoshi has overshadowed Craig’s credibility in the Blockchain space, and the trust level of the community is quite low towards the Chief scientist of Nchain.

According to a report published on March 7th, Craig Wright’s Nchain Holdings have been on a relentless patenting spree and have applied for a total of 666 patents for digital currencies and blockchain technology. After reaching the symbolic figure of 666, the company proudly announced its feat to the world.

Nchain executive Jimmy Nguyen in a recent blog post explained the reasons behind their effort to file as much as 666 patents,

“In fact, Craig Wright and Nchain have so many patent applications that we have now reached a fiendish milestone, last month, Nchain filed patent application number 666 — That’s right — the number of the Beast, Satan himself.”

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Looks into Craig Wright’s Claims

666 might look a magic number and that’s also a part which has led World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to investigate the claims made by Nchain. As per the investigation report conducted by WIPO, since August 2017, Nchain has filed for a total of roughly 155 patent applications.

The aggregated patent list is quite high by any standards, and it becomes more peculiar given the fact that Nchain is a relatively lesser known company even in the blockchain space. The number of filed patents are way more than most of the financially sound firms like Alibaba, Bank of America, Mastercard, IBM, and Accenture.

The Nchain has applied for patents through various organizations and countries and the filing can be found in the U.K., U.S., Japan, and China. Some of the most notable technology which the company has applied for intellectual rights include, like a blockchain counting system and a method for use in secure voting, an operating system for blockchain-based Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, and an agent-based Turing complete feedback system built within a blockchain network.

Many claims that the patenting war was started by Nchain after MasterCard acquired a patent for facilitating anonymous crypto transactions. Many beleiveNchaiu was forced to enter into patenting spree after the incident as it did not want the open-source technology to be controlled by the traditional giants.
