One Year In, a Big Thank You from Newton!

December 25 is Grav-mass, the birthday of Sir Isaac Newton.

On December 25, 2017, Newton Project, the infrastructure for the community economy, was born. Today is its first birthday.

Today marks a year of Newton operations. From March to April of this year, we published the first version of our White Paper, launched our website, and completed the first token exchange. In July, we completed the second exchange; in September, we released NewChain TestNet, and on December 11, we held the Community Node Conference. On December 18, we announced the simultaneous launch of MainNet, NewPay, and NewExplorer.

The Project has gone to Singapore, China, Japan, and the US, among other countries. Volunteers have established their own local communities in 28 countries, totaling 170,000 members. The Newton idea is gaining ever more recognition.

Newton’s Multidimensional Community Cohesion

A blockchain project requires not only a devoted core team, but also community backing. Community is next on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs after ensuring survival. The power of community can promote rapid organizational development.

This year the Newton translation community started from scratch to reach a close to 100 people through continuous optimization of incentive mechanisms, supporting independent translation into 43 languages, and in-house translation into 20 languages.

On December 11, we held the “Gravitation” Community Node Conference in Macao, in which we discussed community governance and incentive mechanisms, and tested rotating community management teams. The response in the community was warm and everyone voted enthusiastically. Through implementation, the rotating teams have demonstrated their advantages, and community activity has been unprecedented.

We also discussed establishing developer communities next year. These measures will improve community management in multiple dimensions and strengthen community cohesion.

Keystone Investors’ Support for Newton’s Commercialization

NewPay, Newton’s first practical application, was launched simultaneously with MainNet. Aside from ordinary payment and transfer functions, it also includes NewID management, NFC, lightning settlement, micropayments, and super node voting, etc.

In the first quarter of next year, we will launch the heavyweight application NewMall, which will enable participants such as consumers and suppliers to receive tokens in accordance with their contributions to the community, reflecting the vision of decentralization whereby “everyone contributes and everyone benefits.” NewMall will transform the relationship between users and the platform from opposition into mutual benefit.

In 2018, we also set seven major application areas: chain commerce retailing, payments, supply chain, self-finance, gaming, agriculture, and philanthropy. We also concluded strategic cooperation with well-known companies such as Chongqing Grain Group, okbuy.com, sina.com, Janlent, One Town One Project, and Wei’ao Health. These gains are inseparable from the support given by Newton’s cornerstone investors. We will connect the chain to more decentralized applications, to create a free and open global ecosystem.

Technology: The Foundation for Practical Applications

Without a solid technical foundation, there would be no way to support top-layer applications. Since its inception, Newton has developed in two directions: a foundation technology level, and a hyper exchange protocol. The foundation technology supports the hyper exchange protocol, while the protocol is the basic commercial protocol cluster that supports the top-level applications.

On December 18, MainNet was launched, reaching 5,000 transaction per second (TPS), with 3 second block intervals, supporting the high-frequency transaction requirements of E-commerce and IoT applications, and reaching commercial-grade scalability in anticipation of commercialization.

One year is not a long time, but the blockchain industry has experienced several ups and downs in that time, causing markets to rationally re-assess the prospects of blockchain. After the shine fades, only projects with real value will survive. The Newton Project, born for the new economy, will bring new glory to the world.

Looking back, Newton has laid a solid foundation for its community, application, technical, and commercial development. Looking forward, it will continue to uphold the principle that “everyone should benefit directly from economic growth,” using blockchain to empower the real economy, breaking through silos, and exploring the path to a new economy.
