Who Is The World’s 44th Most Powerful Person In Finance?

By Sumedha Bose

Worth.com has just released a list of world’s top 100 global finance leaders, and our crypto industry pioneer seems to have made the cut.

Yes, Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious person or persons has just been ranked 44th on this list. The catch here is that, this mysterious entity is the only person on the list who is anonymous. So nobody actually knows who Satoshi Nakamoto is.

Nakamoto has left behind personalities like Mark Zuckerberg, Kristalina Georgieva, and Paul Krugman. The reason Nakamoto is on the list becase he is the esteemed creator of Bitcoin, which is the world’s first peer-to-peer electronic cash payment protocol.

In all probability Satoshi did not know how big his or her or their promotion will become. It has become a multi-billion dollar market and has emerged as a revolutionary use case of blockchain technology, which is the technology behind it.

If you are still asking yourself ‘What Is Bitcoin?‘, have you been living under a rock?

Bitcoin is a form of electronic cash, i.e., a cryptocurrency. It works on the concept of a decentralized network, meaning that no single central authority controls it. Bitcoin works on P2P (Peer-to-Peer) mechanism without any involvement of a mediator.

Funnily enough, Satoshi Nakamoto was also suggested as a possible nomination for the Nobel Prize.

Back in 2015, UCLA Professor Bhagwan Chowdhry had sought Nakamoto’s nomination for Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences. However, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences refused to take that into consideration, stating that they would only nominate an anonymous person if he or she revealed themselves.

The prize, as in this instance, the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel, is never awarded anonymously nor posthumously.

It is evident that Bitcoin has had a very significant impact on the world around us. It is a revolutionary invention that can become a viable alternative for fiat currency. However, if you are asking Will Cryptocurrencies Replace Fiat Money?, we can’t say for sure yet.
