Tada, A Blockchain Based Ride-Hailing App Launched In Cambodia

Blockchain technology has been around for quite some time now, and we have seen repeated attempts by many concerned individuals and organisations to popularize the potential of this new tech. While today we have quite a few sectors who are trying to utilise blockchain with all its pros and cons, it’s mass scale adoption is still a thing for the future.

While we have seen commercial travel companies adopting such measure, the newest reports reveal that Tada, a blockchain based ride-hailing app, which had so far been restricted to only Singapore and Vietnam will venture into Cambodia. The application, which has been developed by Singaporean firm MVL Foundation, was launched in Phnom Penh on Wednesday (May 8). Reports have revealed that MVL has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pi Pay, a digital wallet and lifestyle application based in Cambodia in order to collaborate for this project. Pi Pay and Alipay will be integrated onto the Tada application in Cambodia so as to allow for seamless cashless transactions. When asked, Tomas Pokorny, The chief executive officer of Pi Pay said,

“This collaboration with Tada is another step forward for us as the growth of ride-hailing is encouraging more and more Cambodians to adopt cashless payments in the digital era.”

Tada is powered by blockchain technology, where key mobility data such as transactions, movements, accidents and maintenance of people and vehicles are recorded and connected in a single MVL ecosystem. The ride-hailing service is present in Singapore and Vietnam, and now in Cambodia too with more than 30,000 drivers and 230,000 users.
