Kindergartens In Kazakh Capital To Use Blockchain For Waiting List Management

By Prashant Jha

Blockchain technology has found a new use as it will now be used to manage and track the waiting lists to Kindergarten schools in Astana, the national capital of Kazakhstan. According to the report published on 29th January, 2019 by a local news media outlet, the implementation of the said plan will start from the very beginning of February.

In Kazakhstan, some of the premier kindergarten schools are extremely sought after. This often means that eager parents sign up and apply to admit their children into these schools well in advance. With the spurt in demand, there often is a waiting list.

Now, the admissions to these schools, by a matter of policy, must be conducted as per the federal law under the Standard of State Service.

This means that priority must compulsorily be given to children that do not have access to parental care, those who legal representatives have some disability, those from extremely large families and those who have specific learning disabilities or educational needs to be taken care of.

Handling such a substantial number of criteria can obviously get quite complicated and having a blockchain network to handle it seems to be a good idea.

A distributed ledger powered by blockchain makes sure that all these various forms of data can be processed in one place.

Alisher Abdykadyrov, who heads the Department of Investments and Business Development in the nation’s capital, the new system will be implemented with effect from the first of February, 2019.

By optimizing how waiting lists are handled, blockchain is expected to infuse the system with greater transparency.

It has been reported that the process of admission to the kindergarten schools was digitized in 2018. Even after the digitization, there seemed to be a lot of problems, and users complained that the information was not stored correctly.

With blockchain technology, all those issues are expected to be taken care. The new system has reportedly drawn ideas from popular tech-based services such as app cab aggregator Uber, online accommodation marketplace Airbnb etc.

The blockchain network will give a degree of power to the parents admitting their kids into these schools by allowing them to choose kindergartens depending on their curricula and ratings.
