Coinbase Offers XRP Services To New Yorkers

By Prashant Jha

New York faced crypto enthusiasts who were using Coinbase did not have an option to buy/sell/trade in XRP, however, the firm has announced that now New Yorkers can now access all XRP related services on its coinbase.com platform as well as the Android and iOS app for the same. The announcement came earlier today through a Twitter post, which read,

“XRP (XRP) is now available to Coinbase users who are New York residents. New Yorkers can now log in to buy, sell, convert, send, receive, or store XRP on http://Coinbase.com or using our iOS and Android apps”

Coinbase.com had added support for XRP earlier, and the services were even available on its Android and iOS applications, however, the access was restricted for the New York residents due to a specification of an XRP destination tag which is required to make XRP transfer.

Along with the New York residents, even UK crypto traders had restrictions of access to XRP related services on the exchange. However, with the latest announcement, now New Yorkers can use the app or the web platform of Coinbase to buy, sell, convert, send, receive, or store XRP.

XRP is the native token of the Ripple blockchain and the token is used to provide the liquidity on the platform. Ripple has been growing in stature over the years with a number of strategic partnerships with various commercial as well as central banks using the Ripple made banking solutions like XRapid and xCurrent. Currently, Ripple boasts of around 200 clients who are using Ripple made banking solutions.

The Price of XRP is Facing Strong Resistance But not The Adoption

Although Ripple has been making waves with a string of partnerships, the same is not visible on the prices of the XRP token, as XRP is finding it difficult to get past the $0.3 levels. However, that has not stopped the token from getting listed as an exchange-traded note on a German stock exchange Börse Stuttgart.

XRP has been listed on the Borse exchange since April, but it recently got listed for the investors to monitor its future performance on the exchange. With the restrictions being lifted for the New York customers, the UK residents might also get their hopes for the same.
